AFMADOW [SMN] – Al-Shabaab attacked a Kenyan military base as part of the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) on the outskirts of Afmadow in southern Somalia.

The attack reportedly followed a fierce battle between the attacking forces and Kenyan forces at the targeted base in the Qoqani area of โ€‹โ€‹the region.

Residents told Shabelle Media Network that they heard gunfire from both sides, adding that they could not comment on the exact number of casualties.

There is no word yet from either side, but the situation is now calm, according to the latest reports from the Lower Jubba region.

Most of the Al-Shabaab forces carry out attacks that cause various casualties in the Jubba regions under the control of the Jubbaland state.
