MOGADISHU, Somalia – Gunmen have claimed the life of a distinguished traditional elder, Hassan Ali Muude, on the outskirts of Jowhar town, the capital of Hirshabelle State.
The tragic event unfolded Tuesday night in the village of Asirmal, a community near Jowhar town. Eyewitnesses reported that the assailants fled the scene following the attack.
Speculations are circulating that the murder of the esteemed elder may be rooted in tribal retaliation, as no group has stepped forward to claim responsibility for the attack.
Neither the regional state authorities nor the federal government have issued statements regarding the incident.
The late elder held significant status among the traditional leaders in Jowhar city and its neighboring regions.
