GAROWE, Somalia – Puntland President Said Abdullahi Deni has said he is ready for a peaceful solution to the ongoing conflict in Bossaso, the capital of the Bari region.
In a speech tonight, Said Abdullahi Deni stated that he wanted a non-military solution to the crisis in Bossaso.
He then stated that he was ready for a solution proposed by Puntland’s traditional elders and called on them to help resolve the crisis.
Deni also declared that he was ordering the reopening of all government services in Bossaso, and the port in a bid to restore normalcy.
He also feared that those who left their homes in fear would not return.
Deni, the president of Puntland, also claimed that Puntland was learning from the past and would not look back.
He said that he was saddened by the opposition to the government and the changes being made by the government.
The resulting fighting and conflict in Bossaso have left twenty people dead and nearly eighty people injured.
