DHUSAMAREB – The commander of the Somali National Army’s ground forces, Brigadier General Sahal Abdullahi Omar, arrived in Dhusamareb, the capital of Galmudug state for meetings with military officials aimed at accelerating operations against Al-Shabaab militants.
The commander was welcomed at Dhusamareb airport by senior officers from the Somali National Army’s 21st Division before being escorted to the division’s headquarters, where he held discussions with military commanders.
The meeting focused on strengthening ongoing military operations in areas of Galmudug, improving coordination among security forces and enhancing the Somali army’s responsibilities in securing the region, according to a statement.
The visit comes as Somali forces continue operations against Al-Shabaab as part of efforts by the federal government and the national army to eliminate the militant group, recapture remaining areas under its control and consolidate security in liberated territories.
