MOGADISHU, November 9, 2025 — Somali National Army forces have killed a senior al-Shabaab commander in a targeted operation in Bakool region, state media reported.
A statement from the Ministry of Defense identified the militant as Mohamed Abdi Mohamed, also known as “Gofow,” who was in charge of the Abal base and accused of harming civilians.
In recent days, Somali troops have conducted multiple operations against al-Shabaab in the region.
