MOGADISHU, Somalia – The Somali National Intelligence and Security Agency [NISA], with the help of foreign partners, has carried out a planned operation to kill members of Al-Shabaab in the Fidow area of the Hiran region.
The operation which was conducted on Friday killed 7 members of the Al-Shabaab group, three of whom were senior leaders, according to a statement issued by NISA on Saturday.
The slain leaders were identified as Abdirahman Dheere, who was in charge of the group in charge of ambushes in the Middle Shabelle region and Abdirisak Musa Khalif, who was the deputy leader of extortion.
The operation targeted a place where the group was gathering in the Fiidow area, which is located on the border between the Middle Shabelle and Hiraan regions.
The SNA receiving air support from suspected US drones, are carrying out such operations in Al-Shabaab strongholds in south and central Somalia.
