MOGADISHU — Somalia’s Information, Culture and Tourism Minister Abdifatah Qasim Mahmud visited Mogadishu’s Aden Adde International Airport to assess facilities and services for tourists and international passengers, as the government seeks to boost the country’s tourism sector.
During the visit, the minister inspected key airport facilities involved in receiving international visitors and praised improvements made to passenger services.
He said Aden Adde International Airport serves as Somalia’s main gateway for tourists and foreign visitors, adding that improving airport services was essential to promoting tourism, enhancing the country’s international image and encouraging investment.
Mahmud also met Murat Desket, manager of FAVORI LLC, the company operating the airport, who briefed him on ongoing efforts to modernize airport operations, streamline passenger travel and improve service standards for arriving and departing travelers.
The Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism said it would continue working with relevant institutions and private sector partners to strengthen tourism services and hospitality, with the aim of attracting more visitors and investment while expanding tourism’s contribution to Somalia’s economic growth.
