Somali Interior Minister Closes Police Training for Women

MOGADISHU, Somalia — Somalia’s Interior Minister, Abdullahi Sheikh Ismail (Fartaag), on Thursday officially closed a training program for female officers of the Somali Police Force, who completed a 90-day course focused on specialized security skills.

 

Addressing the graduating officers, who are part of the sixth cohort of the elite Galleyr Special Forces, the minister urged them to serve their country and communities with dedication and to apply the knowledge and skills they acquired during the training to benefit the nation.

Minister Fartaag also praised the critical role of women in maintaining security and strengthening Somalia’s security institutions, emphasizing their contribution to the development and professionalization of the country’s armed forces.
