MOGADISHU, May 9, 2026 — Somali Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre on Saturday received Qatar’s ambassador to Somalia, Abdullah bin Salem Al-Nuaimi, in Mogadishu, where the two sides discussed strengthening relations between the two countries.
During the meeting at his office, Barre briefed the envoy on Somalia’s efforts in security, political reforms and national reconstruction, as well as the government’s DanQaran plan to implement nationwide one-person, one-vote elections.
The prime minister thanked the government and people of Qatar for their continued support to Somalia, particularly in development projects, infrastructure and backing national unity. He also praised Qatar’s role in security cooperation and humanitarian assistance.
Ambassador Abdullah bin Salem thanked Prime Minister Barre for the reception and reaffirmed Qatar’s support for Somalia’s unity and stability, stressing continued cooperation and strong bilateral ties between the two countries.
