DJIBOUTI – Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud attended the inauguration ceremony of re-elected Djiboutian President Ismail Omar Guelleh in Djibouti City on Saturday, alongside regional leaders and international delegations.
The Somali presidency said Hassan Sheikh congratulated Guelleh and the people of Djibouti, stressing the importance of strengthening the longstanding ties between the two neighbouring Horn of Africa nations.
In a statement, the Somali leader reaffirmed Mogadishu’s commitment to deepening cooperation with Djibouti in areas including politics, security, trade and regional integration.
He also underscored the need for closer regional collaboration to promote lasting peace, stability and development across the Horn of Africa.
Guelleh, who has ruled Djibouti since 1999, was sworn in for another term following his re-election.
