MAHAS, Somalia – The President of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh, said that he was threatened with death while he was on the front line of the Al-Shabaab war for more than a month.

While speaking to soldiers at a base in Mahaas district, eastern Hiran region yesterday, the president said that the intelligence shared information about threats to his life, including blowing up his plane, attacking his convoy on the road with explosives, and poisoning.

He said that the threats will not stop him from liberating the country and defeating Al-Shabaab, which has been controlling a large ground in southern and central Somalia for 16 years.

Without mentioning where the threat was coming from, the president said that he would not be afraid of death as Life and Death are in the Hands of Allah and he has a destiny.

In addition, the President praised the armed forces for making great achievements in the war, urging them to never despair as they are on the path to the re-liberation of Somalia.

Hassan Sheikh declared an all-out war last year three months after his re-election. During the first phase of the operation, the SNA gained more areas from Al-Shabaab militants.
