MOGADISHU — The Director General of Somalia’s Ministry of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation, Abdulqadir Ilmi, on Saturday, chaired the ministry’s monthly meeting to assess progress and set priorities for 2026.
The meeting brought together department directors, section heads and advisers, focusing on implementation of the ministry’s annual work plan, improving coordination across departments and strengthening institutional performance.
Officials discussed the need to accelerate regular departmental meetings, ensure timely submission of key reports and reinforce professional conduct within the ministry. Training programmes and staff capacity-building initiatives were also highlighted as central to improving service delivery.
During the session, department heads presented updates on ongoing activities and shared recommendations aimed at enhancing efficiency and accountability across the institution.
Ilmi stressed the importance of reinforcing accountability mechanisms and ensuring that the ministry’s 2026 commitments are fully implemented. He instructed departments to prepare detailed action plans aligned with the ministry’s strategic priorities.
He also underscored the importance of workplace discipline and adherence to civil service regulations, outlining plans to expand training and professional development programmes to improve overall performance and the quality of public services.
