NEW DELHI, India – Somalia’s ambassador to India, Abdullahi Mohamed Odowa, on Wednesday participated in the 28th Meeting of the Committee of Senior Officials of the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA), representing the Federal Government of Somalia.
The gathering focused on reviewing the organization’s recent achievements, assessing challenges facing member states, and strengthening regional cooperation across a range of sectors.
Officials attending the meeting also discussed key proposals and policy priorities to be submitted to the Council of Ministers of IORA member countries, aimed at advancing collaboration in economic development, maritime security and the welfare of communities living along the Indian Ocean.
Somalia reaffirmed its commitment to regional cooperation through the forum, which serves as a platform for countries bordering the Indian Ocean to coordinate efforts on trade, sustainable development and the protection of vital maritime routes.
The Indian Ocean Rim Association brings together member states from across the region and seeks to promote economic integration, enhance maritime governance and strengthen collective responses to shared regional challenges.
