Somalia Repatriates more than 100 Citizens from Libyan Prisons

MOGADISHU, Somalia – The government of Somalia has repatriated more than a hundred Somali citizens who were suffering in Libya.

 

The repatriation of Somali citizens from Libya came in a collaboration between the government of Somalia and the International Organization for Migration (IOM).

The Special Envoy for Children and Immigrant Rights, Maryan Yasin Haji Yusuf said that the government has made a lot of efforts to bring these citizens back to their country.

Ms. Yusuf said that most of the returned people are young people who faced many problems in Libya and later asked to be returned to their country.

Some of the youths who returned to the country said that they faced various problems, while some of them said that they escaped from prison.

They were happy to return to the country, which they said was their own decision, and they requested to be returned to the country.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Somalia, Hamse Aden Haadow, called on all Somalis who are suffering abroad to go to the nearest embassy for help.
