Somalia struggles to deal with drought and conflict

MOGADISHU [SMN] – The Drought Relief Committee, appointed by the Prime Minister, Mohamed Hussein Roble, has begun distributing government funds for drought relief, handing over funds to the State Governments today.

The committee, chaired by Minister of Relief and Disaster Management Khadijo Mohamed Diriye, today handed over financial aid to drought-affected people in the country’s states.

The handover ceremony at the Prime Minister’s Office was attended by State Ministers of Aid and was attended by members of the Drought Relief Committee.

Speaking at the distribution of drought relief funds, Minister of Relief and Disaster Management Khadijo Mohamed Diriye said relief efforts would continue.

The Minister of Aid for the South West State of Somalia, speaking on behalf of the states, thanked the government for its assistance and promised that the aid would reach its intended recipients.
