KAMPALA, Uganda – The Auditor General of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Avv. Ahmed Gutale, recently led a delegation to Kampala, Uganda, to participate in the 20th Afrosaie Governing Board Meeting and 2024 Strategic Review.
The event took place from the 6th to the 9th of May, bringing together representatives from various African countries to discuss important issues related to governance, accountability, and the future of the region.
During the meeting, the participants focused on the challenges and opportunities facing African countries in the areas of public finance management, auditing, and oversight. The discussions highlighted the need for stronger institutions, transparency, and accountability to ensure sustainable development and economic growth.
The Auditor General of Somalia, Ahmed Gutale, emphasized the importance of collaboration and knowledge-sharing among African countries in order to strengthen their respective audit institutions. He stressed the need for a coordinated approach to address common challenges and promote best practices in public sector auditing.
The strategic review also provided an opportunity for the participants to assess the progress made by the African Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (AFROSAI) in achieving its objectives and to chart a course for the future. The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment to the principles of good governance, transparency, and accountability, and a call for increased cooperation among African countries to achieve these goals.
In addition to the discussions on public finance management and auditing, the event also provided a platform for networking and the exchange of ideas among the participants. The delegation from Somalia, led by Avv. Ahmed Gutale, actively engaged in these discussions and contributed to the overall success of the event.
