KISMAYO, Somalia – The head of Somalia’s supreme court Bashe Yusuf touched down in Kismayo, the southern port city, which serves as the headquarters of Jubaland state.

During the visit, the chief justice will meet with judges and court heads in Jubaland to discuss the judicial reforms and ways to strengthen the cooperation between the Federal and regional judiciary, according to the reports.

Sulayman Mohamed Mohamoud, the attorney general of the Federal government of Somalia is part of the delegation visiting Kismayo. Their trip comes as the country is facing surging crimes, including killings and land grab issues.

Somali President Hassan Sheikh last week visited Kismayo, where he held a meeting with regional leader Ahmed Madobe as the Federal Government plans to start the second phase of the offensive against Al-Shabaab in Jubaland and Southwest states.

Jubaland is where Al-Shabaab has taken over a whole region – Middle Juba, where the group’s leaders are said to be stationed. The US and KDF jets regularly bomb the area.
