MOGADISHU, Somalia — Somali Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre has received a Qatari delegation led by Talal bin Rashid Al-Hajri, a senior adviser and director at Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as the two countries seek to deepen cooperation in investment and development.
The delegation travelled to Somalia to discuss investment in food production and healthcare and on Tuesday signed a multi-sector agreement with Somalia’s Ministry of Planning, Investment and Economic Development.
The Qatari officials also conveyed messages from Qatar’s leadership during their meeting with Prime Minister Hamza, according to the Somali government.
Hamza, who was joined by Qatar’s ambassador to Somalia, Abdullah bin Salem Al-Nuaimi, briefed the delegation on Somalia’s progress in security, economic growth and public services.
The prime minister praised the strong diplomatic ties and cooperation between Somalia and Qatar, stressing the importance of further strengthening relations between the two countries.
