BAKU – Azerbaijan`s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has met with State Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Federal Republic of Somalia Ali Mohamed Omar on the sidelines of the 19th Summit of NAM Heads of State and Government in the Ugandan capital of Kampala.
During the meeting, the sides discussed the prospects for cooperation.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov noted that, despite the geographical distance, mutual contacts and cooperation within regional and international organizations have positively impacted the development of relations. He expressed his gratitude to the government of Somalia for consistently supporting Azerbaijan`s territorial integrity and sovereignty.
FM Bayramov emphasized Azerbaijan`s dedication to providing educational scholarships to students from member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the NAM, highlighting the active participation of Somali students in these programs.
State Minister Ali Mohamed Omar thanked Azerbaijan for its efforts during the Chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement. He also commended initiatives aimed at enhancing coordination among the Movement`s members during the COVID-19 pandemic and the post-pandemic period.
The sides also exchanged views on regional issues of mutual interest.
