HARGEISA, Somalia – The president of Somaliland, Muse Bihi Abdi, broke the silence about the ongoing massacre in Gaza by Israel. He joined a chorus of condemnations.

Speaking at the commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the Somaliland Police Force, Bihi accused the West of being complicit in the Gaza atrocities.

“US president Biden and UK PM Sunak visited Israel to show support and solidarity, where is the justice, where is what they were explaining to us, to this today, there are 9,500 deaths, 70% of the dead are children and women,” he said.

He said that on Friday alone, 3 hospitals in Gaza were bombed, including one owned by the United Nations, and 200 people died, while the US Foreign Minister Blinken was in Israel.

The President of Somaliland, a breakaway region in northern Somalia said that all the human rights advocated by Western countries have ended today, and they will not exist.

“Unfortunately, while the Arab countries failed to speak while South Africa, which is not Muslim, their president and parliament spoke about the Palestinian massacre,” said Bihi.

Nearly 10,000 people have died in Gaza City over the past month due to the indiscriminate Israeli bombing which is revenge for the Hamas attack on October 7 that left 1,400 dead.
