KISMAYO [SMN] – Reports from Kismayu the capital of the Lower Jubba region say that strong winds have hit parts of the city which is the capital of Jubbaland State of Somalia.

The storm has particularly affected the Midnimo neighborhood in Kismayo, home to families returning from the Dadaab refugee camps in Kenya.

Kismayo district administration officials who assisted the families affected by the storm said they had destroyed about 60 houses and displaced residents.

They also called on charities and businesses to take part in the relief effort.

Kismayo is one of the coastal towns and is often hit by strong winds due to climate change.
