At least two people were killed and several others wounded today in a suicide bomb explosion in the Somali capital Mogadishu, an official said, Anadolu reports.

The site of the blast was near the headquarters of the country’s National Intelligence and Security Agency, with a soldier among those killed, a police official in Mogadishu said.

“The police believe that the attack was caused by a suicide bomber wearing a suicide vest but an investigation is underway,” said the official, requesting anonymity as he is not authorized to talk to the media.

He added that at least three people, including two soldiers, were wounded in the attack and rushed to hospitals for treatment.

No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack, but Somali-based terror group Al-Shabaab has claimed recent attacks in the Horn of Africa country.

Al-Shabaab, an Al-Qaeda affiliate, was behind a truck-bombing attack in October 2017 in the capital Mogadishu that took some 600 lives, the worst attack in the nation’s history.
