17 dead in roadside blast in southern Somalia

At least 17 people were killed and two others injured on Wednesday when a commuter minibus hit an improvised explosive device in the Middle Shabelle region of southern Somalia.

“We can confirm that 17 people were killed and two others injured in the blast,” Abshir Mohamed Mohamud, commander of Somali National Army (SNA) 3rd Unit division, said.

He added that the security forces arrived at the scene and cordoned off the area before making rescue operations.
