Somalia’s spy agency identifies Al-Shabaab leaders killed in raid

MOGADISHU, Somalia – The National Intelligence and Security Agency NISA has given more details about a planned operation in cooperation with international partners that took place last night in the Galhareeri district of Galgaduud region.

 

The joint covert operation was conducted in different places where senior leaders, militants, and journalists have been staying, according to a statement by NISA on Thursday.

NISA said that 30 Al-Shabaab members, including foreign fighters, were killed in the ground and air operation and 20 others were injured, some sustained critical wounds.

Galhareeri district is said to be Al-Shabaab’s biggest base in the Central Galgadud Region.
