Mogadishu, Somalia – The Commissioner of the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), H.E Mohamud Moalim Abdulle, chaired a special meeting with the organizers of the Rapid-Post Disaster Needs Assessment (PDNA) conference, which is set to kick off this week in Mogadishu.

The meeting focused on the agendas ahead of the PDNA conference and ways to promptly assist the vulnerable and internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Somalia.

The meeting was attended by the Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General (DSRSG), Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator of the UN in Somalia, George Conway, as well as representatives from the World Bank and the EU Delegation in Somalia.

The PDNA conference is a crucial event for Somalia, as it aims to assess the needs of the country’s population in the aftermath of natural disasters and conflicts. The conference will bring together national and international stakeholders to develop a comprehensive plan to address the needs of the most vulnerable populations in Somalia.

Commissioner Abdulle emphasized the importance of the conference in ensuring that the Somali government and its partners are able to respond effectively to the needs of the population. “We need to work together to ensure that the most vulnerable people in our country are not left behind,” he said.

The conference will feature presentations and discussions on a range of topics, including the impact of climate change on Somalia, the challenges faced by IDPs, and the role of the international community in supporting Somalia’s disaster management efforts.

The Somali government is committed to working closely with its partners to address the needs of the population and build resilience to future disasters.

The PDNA conference is an important step in this process, and the Somali Disaster Management Agency is confident that it will lead to concrete actions to improve the lives of the most vulnerable people in Somalia.
