KISMAYO, Somalia – The Somali National Army and the Dervishes of the Jubbaland administration have successfully liberated the strategic area of Filfile in the Lower Jubba region.

The operation, which took place in the past few hours, marks a crucial step in the ongoing efforts to dismantle the group’s influence in the region.

Located north of Bulahaji, Filfile was a key stronghold for Al-Shabaab, serving as a hub for livestock theft and providing important operational centers for the militants. The area’s liberation represents a significant blow to the group’s ability to sustain itself through illicit activities.

Speaking to the media, officers involved in the operation emphasized the importance of this victory and pledged to continue their efforts to eradicate Al-Shabaab from the region.

They highlighted the ongoing operations in the coastal city of Kismayo, a transitional center in the Jubbaland administration, as a critical part of their strategy to weaken the group’s presence in the area.

The liberation of Filfile is part of the second phase of the war against Al-Shabaab, which has intensified in the Jubba region where the group maintains a strong foothold.

The Somali National Army and the Jubbaland administration have been conducting heavy operations to dismantle the group’s infrastructure and disrupt its ability to carry out attacks.

As the battle against Al-Shabaab continues, the liberation of Filfile stands as a testament to the determination and resilience of the Somali forces in their fight against extremism.

The victory not only represents a strategic gain but also serves as a beacon of hope for the local population, who have long suffered under the group’s oppressive rule.
