NAIROBI, Kenya — Somalia’s embassy in Kenya hosted Maj. Gen. Joel Muriungi M’Arimi, commandant of the Kenya Military Academy and a PhD candidate at Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology, during a working visit to the mission.
He was accompanied by Abdihakim Hassan, director general of I-Fly Air, according to the Somali Embassy.
The meeting focused on Somalia’s progress in peacebuilding and state-building, efforts to achieve lasting stability and the importance of regional security cooperation.
The officials also discussed the role of the United Nations and the African Union in supporting peacebuilding, stability and security efforts in Somalia and the wider region.
The talks also covered strengthening air connectivity, trade and investment. The participants agreed that closer cooperation in these areas could help boost economic growth, regional integration and ties among countries in the Horn of Africa.
Somalia expressed hope that such cooperation would continue to expand and contribute to peace, development and closer ties between Somalia, Kenya and other countries in the region.
