SoDMA head meets IOM deputy director to boost humanitarian cooperation in Somalia

MOGADISHU, Somalia — The head of Somalia’s National Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), Mohamud Moallim, met with Ugochi Daniels, deputy director of operations at the International Organization for Migration (IOM), during her working visit to Somalia.

 

The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation between SoDMA and IOM to improve response efforts amid Somalia’s escalating humanitarian crises.

Both sides discussed challenges facing relief operations, including drought, conflict, climate change impacts, and displacement, emphasizing the need for swift and effective aid delivery to vulnerable populations.

They agreed to accelerate joint efforts and deepen collaboration based on innovation and sustainability to better support communities affected by disasters.

The talks ended with a shared commitment to maintain a strong partnership in addressing Somalia’s urgent humanitarian needs.
