JOWHAR, Somalia – Somali authorities on Sunday launched a national education consultation conference in the city of Jowhar, aimed at aligning education policies across federal member states and strengthening coordination between regional and federal institutions.

The conference, officially opened by the President of Hirshabelle State, Ali Abdullahi Hussein (Cali Guudlaawe), is led by the Federal Ministry of Education, Culture and Higher Education, and brings together representatives from all Federal Member States and the Benadir Regional Administration.

Federal Education Minister Farah Sheikh Abdulkadir said the conference is expected to produce “key decisions that will shape the future of Somalia’s education sector.” He emphasized the importance of unified planning and shared national standards to ensure equal access to quality education.

“Hirshabelle is proud to be the first Federal Member State to publicly release the results of the national secondary school exams,” President Guudlaawe said during the opening remarks. “We hope this conference will result in outcomes that benefit education across the entire country.”

The conference is part of broader efforts to rebuild Somalia’s education system, which has suffered decades of disruption due to conflict, displacement, and lack of infrastructure.

President Guudlaawe concluded by expressing hope for successful outcomes and extended his best wishes to all education stakeholders participating in the event.
