MOGADISHU — The president of Somalia’s Puntland, Said Abdullahi Deni, held talks in Mogadishu with members of the Puntland community living in the Banaadir region, as political uncertainty continues to grip the country.

Deni, accompanied by senior officials including Puntland’s second deputy speaker of parliament, Mohamed Mahmoud Isse (Awoowe), met with community representatives as part of his ongoing visit to the Somali capital, Mogadishu.

The meeting comes shortly after a conference organized by the Federal Government of Somalia ended without a clear outcome, highlighting persistent divisions among Somali political stakeholders.

Participants discussed the country’s political situation, focusing on the need to strengthen consultations and reach a broad political consensus that could pave the way for stability and sustainable development.

Deni emphasized the importance of national unity and prioritizing the collective interests of the Somali people, while attendees shared views, proposals and concerns on key issues affecting Puntland and Somalia as a whole.

The meeting follows a series of engagements by the Puntland leader with politicians and traditional elders, part of ongoing efforts to promote dialogue and political compromise in the Horn of Africa nation.
