Mogadishu — The President of Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has formally invited members of the “Future Council” to a national consultative meeting scheduled for May 10, following a series of recent engagements with political leaders, former officials, traditional elders and various segments of Somali society.
In a statement issued by the Federal Government of Somalia, the president said the meeting aims to address critical national priorities through inclusive, transparent and responsible dialogue.
Key issues on the agenda include the ongoing state-building process, electoral frameworks, strengthening national unity, and defining Somalia’s future political direction.
Mohamud emphasized the importance of compromise and mutual understanding at what he described as a pivotal moment for the country, urging stakeholders to approach the talks with openness to ensure meaningful and practical outcomes.
The president reiterated his administration’s commitment to advancing an inclusive political system grounded in consensus, cooperation, and the protection of Somalia’s unity, sovereignty and statehood.
