MOGADISHU, June 18 – South West State President Sheikh Adan Mohamed Nur, known as Madoobe, held talks in Mogadishu with China’s ambassador to Somalia, Wang Yu, aimed at strengthening development and economic cooperation, officials said on Thursday.
The meeting focused on expanding the long-standing ties between Somalia and China, with both sides stressing the importance of deepening cooperation in development, trade and infrastructure projects to support growth in the South West region.
Madoobe thanked Beijing for what he described as its continued support for Somalia and called for an increase in development projects in South West State to accelerate improvements in public services and economic growth.
Ambassador Wang congratulated Madoobe on his recent election and reaffirmed China’s commitment to strengthening its partnership with Somalia, expressing readiness to support development initiatives and practical projects in South West State.
The meeting forms part of efforts by the regional administration to bolster ties with international partners and attract investment and development projects aimed at improving livelihoods and expanding social services, according to a statement from the South West State presidency.
