JALALAQSI, Somalia – At least five people were killed and 4 others injured after a suicide bomber blew himself up in a restaurant near the bridge in Jalalaqsi district of Hiran region.
Confirming the incident to Radio Shabelle, a security officer said the people who were killed in the explosion were the bodyguards of the DC Nor Dheere, who was the prime target.
Dheere was a few meters away from the place where the suicide explosion happened. He suffered a slight wound and his situation remains calm, according to the unnamed official.
The four injured people were taken to Mogadishu for treatment.
The communication in the city is very poor and it has been put under curfew and there is no activity due to security a operation by local forces to beef up the stability.
Early in the day, at least six died in a remote-controlled landmine targeting a military car in Mogadishu. No group has claimed responsibility for the deadly attack.
