Four people died after their vehicle was hit by an improvised explosive device in the north-eastern Kenyan county of Wajir on Wednesday.

Local police said the deceased was traveling in a land cruiser near the Kenyan-Somalia border when they run over the explosive device.

The incident followed the death of ten passengers on Monday when their bus was hit by an improvised explosive device along a major highway in the north-eastern Kenyan county of Mandera which neighbors Somalia.

Al-Shabaab militants have intensified attacks against civilians, security officers, and communication infrastructure in north-eastern Kenyan counties, thereby disrupting the provision of key services like education and health.
