Abdirizak Ahmed Elmi (Cardoofe), a member of the Las Anod district council, was shot dead last night in the center of the town.
He was reportedly shot dead by gunmen near his home and later fled the scene.
Somaliland security forces also arrived at the scene after the killing, conducting operations in parts of Las Anod district, the capital of Sool region.
However, the late Abdirizak Ahmed Elmi (Cardoofe) was one of the new members of the local council and came from the Waddani opposition party.
