BAIDOA, Somalia — A delegation led by the interim leader of Somalia’s SouthWest regional state, Jibriil Abdirashiid Haji Abdi, arrived on Thursday in Baidoa, the administrative capital of Bay region, officials said.
The delegation was received at the airport by government ministers, local politicians, military officers and representatives from various segments of the community.
The visit is linked to efforts to finalize plans for establishing a new administrative system based on what authorities described as the will of the people of South West, a process previously pledged by the federal government.
During his stay in Baidoa, the interim leader is expected to hold meetings with officials, traditional elders and community representatives to strengthen initiatives aimed at stabilization and administrative restructuring in the region.
