At least six people were killed and several wounded in a suicide car bomb attack in Mogadishu, the Somali capital on Sunday evening.

The bomber detonated his car bomb in front of a police station in Mogadishu’s Waberi district, killing two police officers and wounding three others, officials said.

Reliable sources also told Shabelle Media Network that the dead included Waberi police chief Ahmed Abdullahi Bashane, and rescue efforts are underway.

No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack but bore all the hallmarks of past attacks by al Shabaab militants allied to al Qaeda.
