New MPs elected to Lower House in Jubaland

KISMAYO [SMN] – A new member of Somalia’s parliament has been elected in the port city of Kismayo.

His seat, HOP114, was contested by two candidates, Omar Ibrahim Hashi and Abdi Adan Abdullahi.

According to the Jubbaland State Electoral Commission, Omar Ibrahim won the seat with 80 votes, while his rival Abdi Aden Abdullahi received 12 votes and lost by 8 votes.

The election is currently underway in Kismayo, the capital of the Lower Jubba region.
