New joint offensive Kills Al-Shabab Militants in central Somalia

MOGADISHU, Somalia – The Somali army backed by suspected US military carried out a joint operation against the Al-Shabaab base in Galmudug state as part of the efforts to flush out the militants.

 

The command of the armed forces of the country of Somalia has given more details about a planned operation in collaboration with international partners that took place last night in the Galhareeri district of the Galgaduud region.

It was pointed out that the operation destroyed Al-Shabaab’s radio station, a house where leaders of the group were meeting, and a garage where they used to make car bombs.

The operation, according to the SNA statement killed more than 25 members of Al-Shabaab, including leaders, journalists, and technicians.

“In the middle of the night, the allied forces raided the Al-Shabaab base and leveled radio station to the ground, and a lot of journalists and leaders were killed in Galhareiri town of Galgadud region,” reads the statement in part.

The government said it will share the names of the leaders and militants who were killed last night in the bombardment and ground operation that took place in Galhareeri.
