MOGADISHU – Somalia’s National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), in coordination with international partners, has carried out a targeted operation that killed a senior leader of the Al-Shabaab group, who had long been on the agency’s most-wanted list.
The successful operation took place in the Hantiwadaag area, under Awdheegle district in Lower Shabelle region.
In a brief statement, NISA said the operation specifically targeted the militant leader and confirmed that no civilians were harmed.
The agency emphasized that such operations will continue until the threat posed by terrorist groups to national security and public safety is fully neutralized.
NISA also thanked international partners for their continued support in counter-terrorism efforts and strengthening security in Somalia.
