MOGADISHU, Somalia – Somalia’s army chief, Brigadier General Ibrahim Mohamed Mohamud, on Thursday received delegations from the defence forces of Ethiopia, Kenya and Uganda following a high-level meeting of military commanders from countries supporting the African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM).
The meeting, held in Mogadishu, focused on strengthening defence cooperation, security coordination and operational collaboration between Somalia and the troop-contributing countries supporting efforts to restore peace and stability in the country.
Mohamud thanked the visiting delegations for their participation in the commanders’ conference and praised the role played by Ethiopia, Kenya and Uganda in supporting the Somali National Army and ongoing efforts to combat militant groups.
He said close cooperation with regional partners remains essential in enhancing the capacity of Somalia’s armed forces and improving the country’s security situation.
The visiting delegations praised the Somali government and the Somali National Army leadership for hosting the conference, reaffirming their commitment to continue supporting Somalia’s security institutions and maintaining cooperation in the fight against terrorism.
