LOWER SHABEELLAHA HOSE, Somalia — The 192nd Battalion of the 19th Brigade of the Somali Commandos, known as Gorgor, has fully recaptured the villages of Macalinka, Baladul Amiin, Cumar Beere, and Balow in the Lower Shabelle region from Al-Shabaab.
The well-coordinated operation, conducted by Somalia’s National Army, successfully cleared these areas of Al-Shabaab presence without major resistance, according to the residents.
Following the offensive, troops swiftly moved to secure the villages and conduct thorough inspections.
During the clearance, soldiers discovered and safely removed heavy explosives and landmines planted by Al-Shabaab militants in the liberated villages, which posed serious risks to local civilians.
Security checks were intensified to prevent any remaining threats and ensure the safety of the communities.
Commanders leading the operation described the victory as part of a renewed phase in the ongoing campaign against Al-Shabaab insurgents and pledged to continue offensive efforts until all militant hideouts are eliminated.
Today’s operation underscores the persistent efforts by the Somali Commandos and the National Army to defeat Al-Shabaab and restore peace and stability across the country.
