ARUSHA, Tanzania — Somali Ambassador to Tanzania Ilyaas Ali Hassan has welcomed Speaker of the Federal Parliament’s House of the People Abdulkadir Mohamed Nur “Jaamac” and his delegation to the Tanzanian city of Arusha.
Jaamac is in Arusha to attend the 21st Meeting of Speakers of the East African Community (EAC) Partner States’ Parliaments, as well as the 153rd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).
The Somali Embassy in Tanzania said the reception was part of efforts to strengthen diplomatic relations and cooperation between Somalia and Tanzania.
The meetings in Arusha are also expected to provide Somalia with an opportunity to strengthen parliamentary ties and cooperation with legislative institutions across the region and internationally.
Jaamac’s participation comes as Somalia continues to expand its engagement with regional institutions following its accession to the EAC in 2024.
The parliamentary gatherings bring together speakers and legislators to discuss regional cooperation, parliamentary diplomacy and issues of shared interest among member states and international parliamentary bodies.
