MOGADISHU [SMN] – The Prime Minister of Somalia Mohamed Hussein Roble, has condemned the burning of food and property belonging to Somali businessmen by Al-Shabaab on the outskirts of Wajid district in the Bakol region on Wednesday.

The PM said: “This is an example that the group has gone to great lengths to show cruelty to people at this critical time of drought and conflict.”

The remarks come as such acts have been around for years as the group has been besieging Wajid and other areas.

“I commend the Armed Forces for rescuing the victims. We must turn our backs on this enemy who is denying life to our people,” Roble added.

Al-Shabab imposed a blockade on the government-controlled areas in the south and central regions as a tactic to regain control.
