MOGADISHU, Somalia – The President of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, has appointed Dr Abdirahman Badiyow as his adviser on reconciliation affairs in the country.

Dr Badiyow previously served as an advisor of constitutional affairs, a post that now goes to former chief of staff Hussein Sheikh Mohamud, a close associate of the president.

President Hassan Sheikh has picked Abdirahman Badiyow for having a lot of experience in reconciliation as he has done various peace works in the country during the civil war.

The President has asked Dr Abdirahman Badiyow to speed up his task in the reconciliation which is a national plan that Mohamud wants to achieve before his tenure ends in 2026.

Prof. Abdirahman Baadiyow was born in 1954 in the district of Elder. He has been a military officer (1971–1986), electronic engineer, Islamic scholar and civil society activist.

The former presidential candidate was appointed to the position of Senior Adviser of Peace and Reconciliation for former Somali Prime Minister Hassan Ali Kheyre in 2018.

In 2022, he was appointed to the position of Senior Adviser for Constitutional Affairs for President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud of Somalia, and now he is moved to the reconciliation.
