KIGALI, Rwanda – Somalia’s Land Forces Commander, Major General Sahal Abdullahi Omar (commonly known as General Khalid), participated in the Land Forces Commanders Symposium 2025 held in Kigali, Rwanda, officials said Wednesday.
The high-level forum brought together land forces commanders from various African and international militaries to discuss regional security cooperation, unified military leadership, and strategies for promoting peace and stability.
In a keynote speech, General Khalid emphasized the importance of coordinated leadership and strong inter-military collaboration to address current security challenges.
He reaffirmed Somalia’s commitment to playing an active role in regional and global peace-building efforts.
The symposium is part of ongoing efforts to foster dialogue and partnership among land forces in tackling transnational threats and strengthening collective defense mechanisms across the continent.
