Somali Federal Government Condemns Boorama Violence, Urges Calm and Dialogue

Borama, Somalia — The Federal Government of Somalia expressed deep concern over violent clashes in the Awdal region, particularly in the city of Boorama, which resulted in casualties and injuries.

 

In a statement, the government extended its condolences to the families of those killed and wished a speedy recovery to those injured, describing the incidents as “unfortunate and avoidable.”

The government called on the Somaliland administration to address the concerns of local residents responsibly, engage in dialogue, and avoid actions that could escalate tensions.

Somalia’s federal authorities also appealed to community leaders, religious figures, businesspeople, women, youth, and the wider public in Awdal to maintain calm, halt any activities that could threaten security, and seek peaceful solutions to the ongoing tensions.

Finally, the government affirmed its readiness to support medical assistance for those injured in the unrest.
