Somalia, Serbia Presidents Discuss Stronger Security and Economic Ties

BELGRADE, Serbia — Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud held talks with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic in Belgrade on the sidelines of a summit of non-aligned countries, focusing on strengthening bilateral relations, the Somali presidency said.

 

The two presidents discussed ways to expand cooperation in security, the economy and investment, according to the statement.

They also stressed the importance of strengthening diplomatic relations and cooperation between Somalia and Serbia, which have maintained longstanding ties.

The meeting came as leaders gathered in Belgrade for the summit, providing an opportunity for Somalia and Serbia to discuss bilateral cooperation and areas of mutual interest.

The two sides expressed a commitment to broadening cooperation across sectors and deepening diplomatic engagement between the two countries.
