MOGADISHU — Somalia and Sudan have signed a visa exemption agreement for holders of diplomatic passports, in a move aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and facilitating diplomatic cooperation between the two countries, officials said.

The deal was concluded on April 2 during the second session of the Somalia–Sudan Political Consultation Committee, jointly chaired by Hamse Adan Haadow, Permanent Secretary at Somalia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and Ambassador Muawiya Osman Khalid, Permanent Secretary at Sudan’s Foreign Ministry.

The meeting focused on enhancing cooperation in political, economic and educational sectors, as well as strengthening institutional capacity-building efforts, according to officials.

Both sides also agreed to improve coordination on regional and international issues, underscoring what they described as growing ties between Mogadishu and Khartoum.
