MOGADISHU, Somalia — The speaker of Somalia’s House of the People, Abdulqadir Mohamed Nur Jama, has attended a reception hosted by Arab ambassadors in Somalia in his honor, organized by Yemen’s ambassador to Somalia, Fadl Ali Ahmed Saleh.
The gathering was held at the Yemeni Embassy in Mogadishu and was attended by Somali lawmakers and government ministers, as well as ambassadors from Arab countries accredited to Somalia.
During the event, Nur welcomed Algeria’s ambassador to Somalia and said he was in his “second home,” while praising Algeria’s decision to reopen its embassy in Mogadishu.
He described the move as a reflection of the deep fraternal ties between Somalia and Algeria and expressed hope that other Arab countries without resident ambassadors in Somalia would follow Algeria’s example.
Nur said improved security and stability in Mogadishu should encourage greater diplomatic engagement with Somalia. He added that the return of Arab diplomatic missions would help strengthen ties between Somalia and Arab countries and expand cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
